Social Engineering

Social engineering is a tactic used in cyber attacks and fraud, involving psychological manipulation to trick individuals into divulging confidential information or performing actions that compromise security. It exploits human vulnerabilities rather than technical vulnerabilities.

Social engineering relies on understanding and exploiting human behaviours like trust, curiosity, fear and obedience. Attackers deceive victims by posing as trusted individuals or authorities, convincing them to reveal sensitive information, click on links or download files.

Some common techniques include Phishing|phishing which is sending fraudulent emails/messages that appear to come from legitimate sources, urging recipients to provide sensitive data.
